A NEW WAY OF PLAYING THE “TELEPHONE GAME”

If you are of a certain age, you may remember a game called the telephone game. Players sit in a circle and one person starts the game by whispering something in the next player’s ear. By the end of the circle, the story is much changed and does not usually bear any resemblance what was originally said. In today’s world, false stories are spread much faster by use of social media and the internet. While this may seem harmless enough, trouble starts when the lies are taken too far and threats are made or people get hurt. Many companies are continually working to implement policies to help stop the spread of fake news and gossip, and until there is an answer the best practice is to refrain from repeating something that has not been verified.
