For those of us of a certain age, the dream of a flying car something like seen on The Jetsons may be closer to reality that we ever imaged as children. By 2019 car giant GM says they plan to unveil self-driving cabs and delivery vehicles in some of the nation’s largest cities. Test drives are currently set for San Francisco, Detroit, and Phoenix with introduction into perhaps the country’s most congested city; Manhattan. For now, a live back up driver is being used but GM does not plan to continue use of the backup driver at the time of final launch. It is expected that once these cars are put in use, improvements to the system will be ongoing. Who knows? Before long passenger cars may also become self-driving, likely leading to the need for a whole new set of driving rules and regulations.
