FELONY ARRESTS WERE DOWN FOR 2017
While the State addresses budget and other problems, one of which is changing some of our DUI laws and addressing prison overcrowding, the truth is arrests for felonies dropped in 2017. In Oklahoma County, arrests for things previously categorized as felonies declined. This is largely due to implementation of a new law, approved by voters as State Question 780 and reclassifying certain drug crimes from felony to misdemeanor. The number of felony cases filed in 2017, at just over 7,000, was the lowest number of filings since 2011. However, it is still possible to be arrested and charged with a felony, and if you do, we know how to help.
