FINDING WAYS TO BOOST THE STATE’S BUDGET

Blog Post, current events, latest, News

The state budget is a mess, and every day there seems to be a new report on how our legislators plan to fix the crisis. One of the more recent reports is that the Governor has asked for certain agencies to look at consolidation of duties. One of the most visible entities being called upon to undertake this task is the Department of Education, who has been asked to combine certain administrative functions into one agency rather than have separate entities perform what might be considered duplicate tasks. Other state agencies are also being asked to examine their framework, and make adjustments where appropriate. Eliminating duplicate agencies is certainly a good idea, but it remains to be seen whether any consolidation that takes place will actually help the bottom line without causing damage to the Oklahomans who need the agency’s services the most.
