HOW ARE OKLAHOMA JUSTICES PICKED?

With the recent media spotlight on United States Supreme Court Justice Bret Kavanaugh, you might be wondering how your local justices make it to the bench. There are districts in Oklahoma that select nominees, and the legislature is hard at work to make sure the way this happens makes sense. The hope is to have nominees that represent a broad spectrum of the public, so no one group has more of a voice than another. There have also been calls to impose age and term limits, but in the past those initiatives have not had much traction. The current proposal to redistrict may be the answer, but that still remains to be seen. We will keep on top of this developing story and report back when and if any changes take place.
