LEGAL TIP OF THE WEEK
HOW CAN CITY HALL HELP CONTROL TRAFFIC IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD?
At one time or another all of us have driven through a neighborhood too fast, or had to stand and wait to cross a neighborhood street until traffic cleared. If you have concerns about how much traffic is on your street, and how safe this might be for pedestrians and kids playing, City Hall is the place for you. In order to get a stop sign or other type of traffic regulation, you have to present your case to the City Council. Unfortunately, the Council has a lot of data at its fingertips and unless you show a history of accidents or other injury. Many locals are taking this as the Council putting driver interest over the interests of pedestrians. What do you think? We’d love to hear you weigh in on this issue. And, keep in mind, just because a neighborhood does not have stop signs or stop lights, there are still traffic laws you must obey. If you get a ticket, in a neighborhood or on the roadways, we can help.
