HOW COMMUNITY SUPERVISON PROGRAMS MAY HELP WITH PRISON OVERCROWDING

Arrested For DUI/DWI/APC?, Blog Post

It is not new information that there is a prison overcrowding in Oklahoma jails. As officials struggle to find an answer, the Department of Corrections announced at the end of September that a new community supervision program would roll out shortly to help deal with the issue. The DOC Director has taken a strong position on the problem, saying he will act as the final decision maker when staff members are hesitant to place an inmate in the program. The hope is that inmates within a certain time frame of final release will be allowed early release, to free up space in the prisons. This measure, along with other initiatives being considered will hopefully help fix the overcrowding problem.
