HOW MANY MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES CAN WE EXPECT?

The number of new business registrations with the Oklahoma Secretary of State over the past few months may be an indication of how large the medical marijuana industry will be in Oklahoma. Just over 4,000 new businesses registered to operate in Oklahoma from the end of June through the end of July. This number is up nearly 1,000 for the same time period last year, and many believe the increase is due to passage of State Question 788 which legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. As matters progress, a more accurate assessment can be made. Along with keeping an eye on how many dispensaries open up, our office also tracks the rulemaking process for the industry and stays on top of how criminal laws interact with legal use of marijuana.
