HOW TO PREPARE FOR TORNADO SEASON

With warmer weather it is easy to have your thoughts turn to summer vacation and trips to the lake. But before we get to summer, we have to make it through spring. In Oklahoma, that means another round of tornado season. In order to prepare for the possibility of severe weather, some advance planning is beneficial. Some things we can all do to make sure we stay safe during tornado season include cleaning out the storm shelter so it is ready to be used if needed, making sure portable devices are loaded with fresh batteries so we can stay on top of events as they unfold in the event the power goes out, making sure kids know where the safest place in the house is, and paying attention during safety drills at work or at school. If you are on the road when severe weather or a tornado strikes it is advisable to seek shelter in a nearby building or underground if possible; just as long as you are not driving into the path of the storm. We hope all our friends, family, and clients out there stay safe this storm season!
