NEW DUI LAW WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED YET

Arrested For DUI/DWI/APC?, current events

November 1, 2017 was a date a few new laws were set to take effect in Oklahoma. One of those is the left lane law, which prohibits drivers from hanging out in the left hand lane while driving. That law did go into effect November 1, but a proposed new DUI law did not. The DUI law in question created a new program for first time DUI offenders while simultaneously doing away with the appeals process for those charged with DUI that try to save their driver’s license. The opposition to these proposed changes claim the new law would have denied DUI defendants their right to due process, and the Supreme Court agreed. As it stands, the law did not go into practice November 1, 2017 and is still under review.
