NEW PARENTAL CONTROLS HELP KEEP KIDS SAFE ON FACEBOOK

Blog Post, current events, latest, News

Social media giant Facebook is a platform reserved for use by adults, as the rules clearly state you must be of a certain age when setting up an account. However, many teens and younger children are able to get around this rule, and it has parents worried about their children’s online activities. To help combat this very important problem, Facebook is launching a new app aimed at kids under 13. The app is Facebook Messenger for kids, and it allows children the opportunity to chat with their parents as well as friends their parents approve. The app features many other parental controls, such as the inability to add or delete friends – that remains something only the parent can do. The accounts set up with this app will not be new accounts, but will be an extension of the parent’s existing Facebook account and thus the parent remains in control.
