OKLAHOMA SCHOOL WALK OUT LASTS AT LEAST A WEEK FOR MANY DISTRICTS

On April 2, 2018 teachers from across the state walked out of their classrooms and marched on the State Capitol. The movement is in support of funding for education, including raises for educators. Governor Mary Fallin signed a bill giving teachers and state workers a raise, but many say the measure falls short because it lacks additional funding needed for the classroom. At the mid-week point, many districts had announced schools will remain closed through at least Friday, April 6, 2018.
