OKLAHOMA’S COURT RECORDS SYSTEM COULD USE AN OVERHAUL

The Oklahoma State Courts Network (OSCN) is where you can find information about cases on file, including the date of filing, the type of case, and learn about important hearing dates. But the system is not perfect, and in some cases the lack of data or incorrect data can be costly to a defendant. For instance, when warrant information is not updated timely it is difficult for a defendant to stay on top of charges or ask the Court to allow sentences to run together. In the end, this can cost a defendant more time and more money than is necessary. The most affected group of defendants in this regard is the low income or indigent defendant, and is an issue the court system should address.
