POISON HOTLINE CALLS INCREASE IN WAKE OF LEGALIZED MEDICAL MARIJUANA

In recent months the number of calls to the poison control hotline have increased by 75% since 2017. The increase is being attributed to the legalization of marijuana, at least for medicinal purposes. The Oklahoma Center for Poison and Drug Information states nausea and vomiting, an increased heart rate, confusion or anxiety, and paranoid behavior are all symptoms of taking too much marijuana. Hallucinations and delusional episodes are also on the list of symptoms; if you or someone you know has experienced any of these symptoms it is important to seek medical attention if the symptoms persist or if consciousness is lost.
