REASONS WHY PAROLE IS DENIED

For the many inmates looking to get out jail early by taking their case to the Pardon and Parole Board, knowing why parole might be denied is key. Earlier this year a bill was passed that will help in this effort, House Bill 2273 makes it a requirement for the Pardon and Parole Board to state the reason why parole is being denied, if that is the case. The purpose of this requirement is to give inmates a real shot at rehabilitating themselves, which might include making behavioral or other changes in order to qualify for parole. The bill would also provide more clarity on what actions violates parole, so when an inmate is granted this benefit he or she knows how to stay out of trouble and out of jail.
