TRIBES SEEK RULING FROM HIGH COURT

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation has asked the US Supreme Court to rule that a lower court was correct when a ruling was made recognizing a tribal reservation. The land has long been the subject of legal action, with many rules having been made over the years, but the reservation itself still exists. Certain rights are at stake and if the Supreme Court sides with the tribe, the jurisdiction of certain criminal courts in the eastern part of the state would need to be redrawn.
