UPDATED TECHNOLOGY MAY HELP FIRST RESPONDERS

The need for first responders and the police force to remain safe is a given, but sometimes communication methods prevent getting vital information to those in harm’s way. With FirstNet, a wireless network for emergency personnel and developed by AT&T, police officers and others first at a scene are able to send video to a remote location. This comes in handy when those inside need extra eyes, and communicating through traditional methods like walkie-talkie or radio are not effective. The idea was first imagined after 9/11, when those of us outside could see the potential danger of a collapse, but were unable to relay that to those inside the building. FirstNet is being marketed to police and fire departments as a way to keep officers safer, and see events unfold in real time.
