WHAT DOES FAT TUESDAY MEAN TO YOU?

Mardi Gras is more than just a parade on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, the first day is also referred to as Fat Tuesday, and it refers to different celebratory events starting on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three Kings Day). The tradition of Fat Tuesday is to eat rich and savory foods in abundance on the Tuesday just before Ash Wednesday, when is the Lenten seasons begins. It is common to give something up for Lent, and most people make the decision to give up sweets or other fattening foods. So while Fat Tuesday is a good chance to eat some King Cake or have a party to celebrate, its meaning is much deeper. Whether you identify with the religious meaning behind Fat Tuesday or not; Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday are a time to rejoice and celebrate.
