WHAT TO ANTICIPATE WHEN THE STATE’S LIQUOR LAWS CHANGE

It may be hard to remember now, but when voters last took to the polls in November there was more on the ballot than the race for the Oval Office. In Oklahoma, voters were able to vote on a number of issues with local impact. One of those issues was a change to the state’s liquor laws. The measure passed and is set to take effect October 1st. Many local liquor stores are already gearing up for the changes, and consumers can do the same. Some beer and wine will now be available at grocery and convenience stores, as well as the ability to buy refrigerated beer at a liquor store. Many liquor store owners feared the new law would driver down business as more customers opted to buy their spirits at grocery stores, due to the convenience factor. In anticipation of this change, some stores are already installing refrigerated sections in their stores, hoping to keep their loyal customers.
