WILL THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN AFFECT YOU?
The partial government shutdown is now entering its third week. For some this means time off work without pay, and for others is means a possible cut in vital government services. One of the most critical services at risk is the food stamp program (also known as SNAP). The funding for this program will only last through January, according to recent reports. What this means is that if the shutdown lasts into February, just over 40 million Americans who rely on the benefits offered by SNAP will be without the resources needed to cover their basic needs. The shutdown has also impacted workers who are not receiving pay, and some reports claim those workers are already feeling the pinch financially. When bills go unpaid the creditors will start to come knocking, forcing many to make difficult choices. Here at the Hosty Law Office our thoughts are with those affected as we pray for a quick and sensible resolution.
