DON’T ANSWER THAT PHONE CALL!

How many missed calls do you have on your cell phone? Reports indicate close to half of the calls you get on your cell are marketing or scams, and the number is only set to rise. So what can you do, short of just not answering? The first thing you need to know is to be alert and never give out personal information to an unknown caller. Places like the IRS and other legitimate businesses will never ask for payments over the phone and should not take a debit or credit card number from you. You should also be wary of a caller who threatens to put you in jail if you fail to divulge personal information. When in doubt, terminate the call and then place the call yourself. When you initiate the call you can be certain the person on the other end is the intended recipient. You can also file a report with the Federal Communications Commission about unwanted calls.
