HOW TO SAFELY FIX A FLAT TIRE

Fixing a flat tire is a life skill all of us need. You never know when you may experience a flat, and help may not be nearby. Knowing what to do is a life lesson that stretches beyond just changing the tire. Be sure to set your parking brake so the car does not roll towards you, then get the jack and spare out of your trunk. These items should be accessible, and now may be a good time to double check that your trunk is organized and contains the safety supplies you might need in the event of an emergency. Loosen lug nuts before jacking up the car, and then be sure to use caution when operating the jack. Remove the lug nuts and keep them in sight so they don’t roll or get lost and then remove the old tire and put on the new. And as always, when driving on a spare be sure to drive safely and at the allowed limit, then have an auto professional double check your tires when you reach your destination.
