OKLAHOMA COUNTY JUDGE HELPS WITH EARLY RELEASE PROGRAMS

Oklahoma County District Judge Cindy Troung recently issued own recognizance (OR) bonds to low level offenders. The OR bond is a way for inmates to bond out of jail on their own accord, by essentially promising to return to court for their next court date. This type of early release helps with reduce the prison population and gives offenders serving time for low level offenses a chance to get out of jail and get back to their lives. Judge Troung has been issuing these OR bonds since about November, but does not grant every inmate with a non-violent crime this luxury. For example, if a defendant is serving time for a DUI there have to be certain plans in place in order to qualify for the early release that goes along with an OR bond. If a treatment plan is not in place in a DUI matter, the Judge is unlikely to grant the release.
