LEGAL TIP OF THE WEEK

FACEBOOK WANTS YOUR MONEY

Facebook recently made a push to get access to your banking info, which raises a lot of privacy concerns but may also offer a faster alternative when needing to talk to a financial institution. The proposal aims at allowing users to chat with their bank through Facebook messenger, eliminating the need to wait on hold or go through a series of automated messages. The social media giant has said any information gathered will not be shared, but many users are skeptical. The best way to stay on top of your personal data and avoid a breach is to provide information only when on a secure site and to do your own research when a company does not seem legitimate. It is also a good idea to check your credit report regularly, so you can spot any problems and report them right away.
