A NEW KIND OF ADDICTION?

We are all familiar with certain kinds of addiction, like drugs or alcohol. But with advancements in technology comes a new kind of addiction. Some of us are addicted to social media, checking our Instagram or Facebook frequently throughout the day to see how many “likes” we have received or if there is a new friend request. This brings up the topic of another addiction, that of simply being addicted to your phone. The hours spent staring at a phone screen each day can oftentimes rival the hours spent at work or with family. If you want to break free of your phone, the first step is to realize that the technology is not to blame. We need the technology, but once we realize it is the user who is in control, action can be taken to decrease the time spent on a phone or other electronic device. As the new year starts, many people make resolutions and this year it may not be unheard of for a popular resolution to be to eliminate or at least cut down on the time spent on a phone. Keep in mind any addiction can have negative impact, and with a phone addiction you may run the risk of unsafe driving or causing damage to personal relationships. If that happens, and you do get in trouble driving while on the phone or have any other traffic violation, call us for help.
