LEFT LANE DRIVING NOW AGAINST THE LAW

On November 1, 2017 several new laws went into effect in Oklahoma. One of those laws is the prohibition against driving in the left lane in certain circumstances. Most notably, drivers are not allowed to hang out in the left lane on multilane roads. Exceptions to this new rule include using the left lane to allow space for a stopped vehicle in the right lane shoulder, or to legally pass another driver. But these circumstances can be difficult to identify, which has lead the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to admit the new law will be enforced per their discretion. Most likely times the law will not be enforced include rush hour or on roadways where the right lane is in poor condition.
