OKCPS SUFFERED A CYBER ATTACK, WHAT IS NEXT?

A cyber-attack on the OKCPS data system left parents unable to access their child’s information for nearly a week. The district was quick to report no student data was compromised, but the attack has left many wondering what safeguards are in place and how can the district protect from this happening again? The program in question is Infinite Campus, and the technology is not used only in Oklahoma. Several states use the portal and it is a convenient way for parents to keep track of absences, grades, and locate contact information for their child’s teacher all in one easy to use place. To protect the data, Infinite Campus has stated they have hired security experts to determine the source of the attack and ensure student data is safe.
